In the recreational and competitive activity of hang gliding, a foot-launched aircraft known as a hang glider is used. The lightweight, unpowered hang glider is supported by an aluminium frame covered in a synthetic cloth wing. Someone who wishes to fly a hang glider must first run down a hill, be towed by a vehicle, or take off in a motorised aircraft. Once in the air, the pilot uses a control bar to change the shape of the wing and shifts their body weight to regulate the aircraft's direction and height. Hang gliding is a thrilling way to experience flying that offers an unusual perspective on the world. Understanding weather and wind conditions, as well as taking safety measures, necessitates skill and practise.
