A motorised propeller is used in paramotoring, also known as powered paragliding, a form of ultralight flight. A paramotor is a motorised backpack that the user carries, with a propeller attached behind the pilot's back. The paramotor provides the additional thrust needed for takeoff and sustained flight, while the wind inflates the paraglider wing. A paramotor is piloted by moving forward while the motor inflates the paraglider wing behind them. When inflated, the wing lifts the pilot off the ground, giving them control over their direction and altitude by adjusting the shape of the wing and the strength of the engine via the throttle. Paramotoring is a simple and inexpensive mode of transit.
